About Me
My name is Rebekah Smith. My goal is to create a new mindset around what yoga is and who yoga is for, as well as to introduce Yoga Therapy as a tool to my community. I became a 200-hour Kula yoga teacher in 2016 and started teaching at the North Fork Yoga Shala in Greenport NY. I then started working with clients one-on-one, this sparked my interest in creating classes focused on an individual’s or group’s specific needs. From this idea and some exploration I found KIYT (Kripalu Integrative Yoga Therapy). In February 2019 I became certified as a 300-hour Advanced Teacher or Yoga Therapy. November 2023 I finished my certification as a Prenatal/Postnatal yoga teach from RPYT-Online Yoga School. I am excited to keep deepening my knowledge to offer a variety of safe, approachable and empowering options for clients.
I now live on the Big Island of Hawai’i were I offer yoga in many different forms, such as Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy, studio classes, Pre/Post natal classes, and one-on-one yoga classes. Along with working in the yoga community, I also run the elementary garden program at Innovations Public Charter School, where I get to work alongside an inspiring group of teachers and other staff members.
